Yes, it’s true that quitting smoking is difficult. But it is not entirely impossible and with the right kind of quit smoking aids you can do so easily to quite an extent. The first thing to do to quit smoking is to mentally prepare your self. This is the most important thing and often it makes or breaks your attempts of quitting smoking. Once you are 100% sure and committed to quit smoking, you can devise a plan for yourself which will ensure your complete abstinence from smoking. The responsibility to quit smoking lies on your shoulder and mind you, it is an overwhelming responsibility. You will see all time highs and lows, you will face hurdles at every step and you will yearn for a cigarette all the time. But quitting smoking is a must and you also have scientific technologies coming to your rescue. Various quit smoking drug, support groups, therapies, prescription or over-the-counter quit smoking pills are now available for you to make the tough task easier. So select a quit smoking aid which suits your body and needs the most and go for it. You can have natural quit smoking aids like yoga, hypnosis, acupuncture, exercises, yoga, prayer and meditation. If however, they do not work there are other sure-shot ways to quit smoking. Quit smoking pills and therapies such as nicotine replacement therapies (nicotine gums, lozenges, patches, sprays, etc), chantix and Zyban are all sure-shot ways to quit smoking. Though all this quit smoking pills work amazingly they do come with necessary evils. With prescription quit smoking pills like Zyban and chantix the danger of side effects is always lurking around, though chantix side effects are minor and easily avoidable. Many-a-people have had really bad experiences with Zyban quit smoking pills and run 100 miles away just at the mention of its name. However, the latest quit smoking pill Chantix seems to be an answer for most people who were distraught with Zyban. This latest quit smoking pill is superior to all other quit smoking aids and pills and works effectively and safely to help people give up smoking. Quitting smoking is no more a nightmare with Chantix in the horizon. So no more you can give the age-old lame excuse “I am trying but it is too difficult”. If you whole-heartedly wish to quit smoking, there is no other better way than to get Chantix for quitting smoking. By: meds4all About the Author:

The main reason quitting is so hard is the severe cravings that are associated with the use of nicotine. What happens in your brain each time you light up a cigarette? When you smoke, nicotine sends a signal to your brain to release a chemical called dopamine that can give you a feeling of pleasure and calm. Unfortunately that feeling is short lived. So to achieve that feeling again, you have to light up another cigarette, and the craving process begins.

Regardless of the smoker’s perceived benefits from tobacco, one would assume that an overwhelming consideration must be the likelihood of an early grave after a life of gnawing addiction. However, the addictive qualities of nicotine often overpower a smoker’s fear of premature death.

Thanks in large part to work done at the National Institute on Drug Abuse in the 1980s, it is now clear that all the elements of addiction found with “serious” drugs like heroin and cocaine are also found with nicotine. Smokers trying to quit are likely to become as psychologically distressed as the average psychiatric outpatient. In animal experiments, squirrel monkeys will press levers as many as 250 times to get a single intravenous dose of nicotine. Human smokers under the same conditions will dose themselves at orderly, predictable rates depending on how much nicotine they are getting — the very hallmark of an activity controlled by a substance.

BUT there is hope and there are effective alternatives.

There are literally dozens of tips to quit smoking naturally. There are a lot of people who smoke out there who, among other reasons, are afraid to try to quit cigarettes for the fear of what they think is inevitable weight gain. For some time, I have been studying why some people who choose to quit or lose weight succeed and why some of them don’t. Lets take a look at what all of the factors are that cause such weight gain in people who quit smoking and see if maybe this weight gain may be able to be controlled to where it does not have to be a factor when you decide to put the cigarettes down for good. As an ex-smoker and a former fatty, I have found what I believe to be the solution to the problem. It is all to do with the decision. We may decide that we would like to quit smoking or that we would like to lose weight, but have we decided to commit to doing it? Until now, drugs that purport to help you quit smoking have largely ignored the root of the problem Nicotine — the chemical that keeps you hooked to those insidious packs of cigarettes and unless you rid your body of that nasty chemical as quickly as possible the success of any Smoking Cessation treatment is reduced dramatically. But the most important thing that you must remember when you want to quit smoking is that any method, whether it is hypnosis methods or any other methods will work only if you have the will power to say no to cigarettes. If you choose cold turkey, you access virtually the only method that is free, and you can do it at any time. When you use cold turkey, you can use the only method that is very low cost or can be totally free and will put money back in your pocket because you are no longer supporting the habit, and you can do it at any time. The cold turkey method to help you quit smoking is great if you use the aids listed above because those aids will help you if your body starts to go through withdrawal symptoms, which are often associated when you stop smoking. If you use smoking cessation aids like gum or nicotine patches because those aids can help you if you start to go through nicotine withdrawal symptoms, which are often associated when you stop smoking. If you are trying to quit smoking, products such as nicotine gums are often a first choice. While trying to quit smoking is hard, it is not impossible and there are some very good products, which have high success rates, on the market. He sent me to the hospital for tests and when I went back he dropped the bombshell: It is time that you quit smoking. However, if the smoker makes the right decisions, understands them and can open their eyes to the truth about smoking and their smoking behaviour, it is possible for them to quit. When the smoker is finally able to quit smoking their trigger spots will still be there. A positive mental attitude to quitting smoking, coupled with a good understanding of why you really smoke will help any smoker quit the habit. Hypnotism is no ‘quick fix’ and many experts advise that it should only be one tool from the toolbox – including diet, exercise and developing a more positive outlook – that a smoker needs to use to quit the habit. There are many great articles and resources that can help you to quit smoking and to help you I’ve collected useful articles and essays from all over the Internet to advise, educate, shock and most of all, help you to stop smoking and enjoy your life to the full. Stop smoking is not easy if you don’t know how to, but can be done. Quitting smoking is one of the most difficult addiction-breaking processes one can go through. By: Tsuyoshi E.

Do you want to stop smoking cigarettes? I don’t mean your wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend, mother/father, or doctor wants you to stop smoking. Do you want to stop smoking? If you do, then I can help! If you’re just trying to please someone else, don’t bother. Quitting is very, very hard to do, and doing it because you want to is the only way you’re going to be able to do what it takes to quit. Some background… I smoked like the proverbial choo-choo train for about 20 years. Not “I didn’t inhale”, or “One cigarette every now and then”… I mean “chain-smoking, if you can’t smoke there, I don’t want to go there”, 2-3+ packs a day, smoking. See, I smoked before the “non-smokers revolted”. In those days, you could smoke on airplanes. You could smoke at work. (In fact, the CFO at one of the places I worked had a (humorous?) sign that read, “This is a smoking area. Please smoke. If you persist in non-smoking you will be asked to leave.” So I could chain smoke, even at work… no waiting for “a smoke break”. You could smoke in restaurants, too. And I did. Later, I became an independent computer consultant. Somewhere around 1991 companies started restricting smoking. I began to have a tough time with some of my clients. After about 45 minutes in a non-smoking meeting, I would agree to just about anything… if they would just let me take a quick break (this was not a good negotiating tactic). I also found that I didn’t really enjoy smoking any more. I just had to smoke. I was addicted to smoking cigarettes. And the coughing that came with it didn’t make me feel better either. I made the decision that I was going to quit. There are many reasons to quit. – You will have more money for things that you do enjoy (cigarettes are expensive!). – You will not stink to your non-smoking friends (yes, I know you can’t smell it, but they can). – You will get your sense of smell back (I didn’t even know mine was gone until a few weeks after I quit, I started smelling things again. What a pleasure!). – You will be healthier. (I am told that after 10 years, an ex-smoker’s lungs are about as healthy as a non-smoker’s). – If you’re a lady, maybe you don’t want to develop those wrinkles around your mouth. – Ultimately, you will feel better, have more energy, and live longer. You may have other reasons… If you really want to quit, for your own reasons, I can tell you how I did it, and how you can do it, too. Some of the things I will suggest are the exact opposite of what others say to do. I am not a doctor, or a psychologist. I am not giving medical or psychological advice. I am just telling you what worked for me. I quit on Saturday, Feb 22, 1992 and I haven’t had more than 6 cigarettes since. (I had those with my Mother when my Dad passed away). Ready? Step 1: You have to decide that, this time, you are going to do it. “There is no try, there is only do, or not do”. (I thought that was an ancient Chinese proverb, but someone told me it came from Star Wars). Regardless, either decide you are really going to quit, or don’t put yourself through the pain of trying. Step 2: Decide on a nicotine-containing product to help you with the withdrawal. There is a real physical addiction to smoking, and you should get help with that. I used the Nicoderm patches. In those days, you needed a prescription for them. It was a 10 week program. The large size for 6 weeks, the medium size for 2 weeks, and the small size for 2 weeks. The patches have the advantage of giving you the nicotine without you doing anything that reinforces the habit (chewing the gum, “smoking” the fake cigarette, etc). At the same time, it gives you the mental strength to know that you are only fighting the mental habits (which is no small feat), not the physical issues too. If you have questions about this one, ask your doctor. Step 3: Decide when you are going to quit. I purposely decided on Saturday at noon. I could smoke as much as I wanted until then. (And believe me, I did! I sat in a chair and smoked and smoked until noon.) Step 4: On the designated day, throw out all cigarettes, except for one unopened pack. You don’t need them anymore, right? So, throw them out. The one unopened pack is to remind you that this is a choice that you have made. No one is making you quit, it is your own choice. Step 5: Keep it a secret. This is where I differ from most people who would give you advice. To me, keeping it a secret gave it power. While inside my head I would be screaming “I need a smoke!!!”, on the outside I would play a game. “Would these people notice that I am not smoking? I mean, how could they not? They never saw me without a cigarette before!” I was surprised how long it took most people to notice. If they did notice, I would very casually say, “No, not right now… “. That kept the game going. It was powerful! The other reason to keep it a secret, is that well-meaning, non-smoking friends will try and encourage you. They mean well, but they really have no idea what you are going through, and so their advice seems hollow and useless. Maybe that’s just me… Step 6: Do not allow the internal argument about smoking. When you quit smoking, you will almost certainly begin to have internal dialog, usually depicted by the devil sitting on your shoulder talking to you. It goes something like this: devil: “A cigarette would sure taste good now, wouldn’t it?” You: “Yes it would, but I’ve quit smoking and I’m not going to have one!” devil: “If it would taste so good, then why not?” You: “Because I want to feel better.” devil: “Oh, so you feel a lot better now, huh?” You: “Actually, no, I feel like @#$%^*!” devil: “Just 1 cigarette will make you feel better. You can cut down… then quit.” You: “Well… I guess 1 wouldn’t hurt” To me, this is the single most important step, and it’s the reason that I call this the “Nancy Reagan approach”. Ms. Reagan started the slogan “Just Say No!” Please don’t dismiss this as just a shallow slogan. Hear me out. You must not allow this inner conversation to take place. If you do, there is a very good chance that you will lose. What I did, and what I suggest that you do, whenever this conversation starts in your head, immediately just say the word “No!” and force yourself to think about something else. Do not let that conversation begin. You will have to do this many times… that devil (a.k.a. your habit) is very persistent. And it will come at you when you are the weakest. Just say “No!” Step 7: Make the rule for yourself that “Anything goes, as long as it’s not a cigarette.” You can eat, run, exercise, take a vacation, swim, drink, watch tv, shop… anything as long as it’s not a cigarette. One thing I did was to eat sunflower seeds in the shell. That kept my hands and my mouth busy. I also took my family to the lake for weekend vacations… boating, walking… etc. Looking back, I really don’t think I could have done it without this rule. But I have to be honest… for me it did have one undesired side effect. Since I mostly used eating to compensate for not smoking, I gained weight. Given the choice, it is a trade that I would make again, though. I watched my Mother gasp for air, unable to breathe properly for the last three years of her life (it’s like drowning very slowly… a very unpleasant way to go) because of cigarettes. Maybe you can make this step work for you without the weight gain… or work on the weight issue after you’ve quit smoking. The point is… you chose to quit smoking, whatever it takes. OK, that’s it. After you get through the hardest part (for me it was about 10 weeks), life begins to get good again. One day, I noticed that I could smell things again (and I found out why people say that smoking stinks). And food tastes better. And I could go the distance in long business negotiations. And I will more likely live long enough to play with my grandchildren (if I ever have any). Good Luck! If I can do it, You can do it! See you in the non-smoking section! By: Tony Yost About the Author:

We are simply told “just stop”. Stop smoking that is. If only it were that easy right? But the fact of the matter is that both psychological changes and psychological issues play a role in any program to stop smoking. It is not even easy for the most determined of people to flip a switch and stop smoking.

However, the commitment to quit has to be part of any program. On average, only 6% will be successful in quitting during their first attempt. Finding the willpower to make the decision a permanent thing is the key to success.

We all make small choices in any area of life. However, the big choices are rarely a matter of snapping the mental fingers and opting for a course of action. More thought and effort than that is needed. It is those twin helpers that are the link between willpower and achievement.

One of the major factors as to why people smoke is stress. And we all know that stress keeps on coming year after year. Something happens in our lives and we feel stress, therefore reaching for a cigarette to restore calm.

It is possible to interrupt that journey at several points along that moving train of events.

Begin slowly. Search for those times when reaching for a cigarette is just down to habit. The first thing you do in the morning is reach for a cigarette. If this is the case, then put them out of the way and exert willpower so as not to get them.

Delay your after dinner cigarette for a few minutes more to begin with and then longer and longer. It is these small victories that will reduce the quantity of cigarettes that you smoke every day and strengthen your willpower.

As your control over impulses is better gained, your self-confidence will grow. You will feel in control. This will reinforce the feeling of willpower, and you can direct events rather than them directing you.

The next thing to look at is the long term plan. Select a day to stop smoking. Estimate what date you will run out of cigarettes. Remind yourself of the high price of cigarettes, not only in dollars, but also health wise, and prevent yourself from buying anymore.

The first two weeks will be hard, which will make the largest demands on your willpower. The cravings will also be at their strongest during this time. The chemical changes that take place in your body will adjust to lower levels of dopamine, therefore flushing smoke ingredient-created compounds out of your body which will create an urge to resume.

Think of the long term consequences in order to help yourself. Keep photos of diseased lungs around the house and remember the times when you were short of breath when walking up a hill. Assist your willpower in every way possible.

Sticking to the plan for life is what follows next. This is the really hard part. Willpower not only selects an action today, but directs your life towards a better horizon.

There are many methods to stop smoking, and among the better known ones I can mention:

1. the acupuncture

2. the magneto therapy

3. the hypnosis

4. the mind control

To which should be added the necessary psychological support to face the abstinence syndrome.

And that can be carried out with:

1. Psychotherapy

2. Relaxation and Mind Control

3. Help to the smoker phone lines

4. Family Support

5. Friends

6. Programs to stop to smoke

And possibly a therapy will be needed for the substitution of the nicotine with nicotine substitutes like:

1. Nicotine chewing gums (they can be bought without recipe)

2. Nicotine Patches (they can be bought without recipe)

3. Nicotine Pills (they can be bought without recipe)

4. Aerosols (recipe is required)

5. Inhalers (recipe is required)

When is it the best moment to begin a nicotine substitution therapy? The best moment to begin a nicotine substitution therapy, is when you begin to stop smoking.

What nicotine substitute is better? The statistic gathered so far don’t indicate that anyone is better than the other ones, the substitute that you must choose depends on your choice and habits, but it is important to highlight that all present some kind of inconveniences, reason why even when you choose one of those that don’t require recipe, it is always advisable to consult a doctor, who might even prescribe you some antidepressant, besides the nicotine substitute.

But repeating what I already said before, to be able to stop smoking, it is necessary to have knowledge about what the tobacco addiction implies (this web page has been written for it), and it is also needed help and an appropriate motivation.

If you decide to stop smoking it is good that you remember what Mark Twain said: “To stop to smoke is easy, I have already done it a thousand times”

For that reason, if you want to stop to smoke and you don’t want to go through Mark’s experience, you should know that a sudden and strong desire to smoke, can be presented months or years after having abandoned the bad habit, and to be able to overcome it without falling again in the claws of the nicotine, you need to know that:

Just as it happens to an alcoholic that can not take neither a single glass of alcohol without relapsing, you can not smoke neither a single cigarette without running the risk of falling again in the bad habit. And you can not even practice a single inhalation without putting in danger all that you have gotten

Review the reasons that have taken you to leave that bad habit, and the benefits that you have found for you and your family, and continue enjoying the pleasant sensation of knowing that you are a man that has conquered itself.

What Do You Need To Stop Smoking

A plan to stop smoking is only successful if it contemplates three aspects:

1. You should know very well what is it to be tobacco addict, and which are its consequences.

2. You need a training or help to face the abstinence.

3. You need to be absolutely motivated when attempting it

If one of these three aspects is not contemplated, the plan has few probabilities of success. The percentage of people that are able to stop smoking by their own means is of only 5%, reason why it is always convenient that you accept the help of the ones that know how to do it.

Another thing that will increase the success possibilities, is that you supplement your plan with some substitution system as chewing gums, nicotine patches or antidepressants (if the doctor prescribes them)

Keep in mind that the strong desire to smoke will be more intense the first days after leaving the cigarette, but it will diminish every week, and to the fourth month you will hardly feel it.

If you are trying to quit cigarette smoking or smoking of any kind, whether it is for health reasons, to save money, or if you are just fed up with being the odd one out and having to sneak off for a crafty smoke, then you will need some “Smoking Quit Tips” and I hope that the following 10 ways to quit smoking will help.

1) Stopping smoking is not easy as you will probably know if you have tried to quit cigarette smoking before. Firstly you must make a positive decision to quit. This may sound obvious but if you are trying to quit just to please someone else (your partner, or your family) then you have less chance of succeeding. You must really want to quit for YOURSELF.

2) Making a list of the reasons why you want to quit cigarette smoking will help you. Think of the effect that smoking is having on your health, think of the inconvenience of having to go outside or into another part of the house just to have a cigarette. Whatever you think of to put into your list keep it with you so that you have a constant reminder of why you are quitting.

3) Work out exactly what you are spending on smoking, how much does your habit cost you. What are you spending on a daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly basis? You will be surprised at just how much of your hard earned cash is just literally going up in smoke. On the positive side don’t forget to think of all the nice things that you could be spending that cash on.

4) Make a note of the times that you will miss smoking the most i.e. after a meal, or at certain times of the day. This way you can be prepared and even plan to do something that will take your mind off of smoking. You could for example go for a short walk after a meal instead of having that smoke.

5) Let your family and friends know that you are going to quit cigarette smoking. It’s amazing how much support you will receive, and this really helps.

6) Quit smoking one day at a time. Don’t think things like “can I really quit smoking for good” instead say to yourself “I will not smoke today” this is a lot easier for you to take in. Then do the same thing the next day and you will be surprised how quick a week will pass.

7) If you have a friend who is also trying to quit cigarette smoking then try to do it together. Don’t make it a competition but rather be there for each other for help and support.

When you feel the urge to smoke do something to take your mind off of the craving. Try chewing gum or nibble on some nuts or healthy snacks (not sweets) and also drink plenty of water and fruit juice.

9) Remove all temptations from around the house. Don’t leave cigarette packets lying about; put all the ash-trays and anything else associated with smoking (lighters, matches, etc) away in a cupboard out of site.

10) Try to quit smoking when you know you will not be put under stress. Pick a week to start when you are on vacation or are going to be at home in a relaxed atmosphere.

These 10 ways to quit smoking are all sound and proven “Smoking Quit Tips” they will all help you to quit cigarette smoking. But you will also need some willpower to achieve your goal. Some people who have tried and failed because of this lack of willpower have found that hypnosis has worked for them. With quit smoking hypnotherapy it gives you a really great start with a higher chance of succeeding. To find out more about quit smoking hypnotherapy just click on the link below.

Your health and longevity depend on how fast you quit smoking. Health concerns are usually one of the major reasons people have for quitting smoking. Many people are aware of the fact that smoking can lead to lung cancer, but are you aware that it also radically increases your risk for many other kinds of cancer as well, including cancer of the throat, mouth, stomach, esophagus, and colon?

Here are some good reasons why you consider quitting smoking:

Smoking accelerates the risk of lung diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. These pain staking and progressive lung diseases cause chronic illness and are eventually deadly.

Smoking leads to premature wrinkling of the skin, bad breath, awful- smelling clothes and hair, and yellow teeth and fingernails. People who smoke continuously are more likely to die from heart attacks in comparison to non-smokers.

Women over the age of 35 who smoke are in a high-risk group for stroke, heart attack, and blood clots of the legs.

Women who smoke regularly are more likely to have a miscarriage or a lower birth-weight baby.

The cost of smoking is extraordinary. It is no secret that smoking cigarettes is not only cruel to your body; it’s hard on your wallet too. Smokers also incur higher costs for health and life insurance due to the high-risk situation they face.

It is never too late to give up smoking. In spite of how old you are or how long you’ve smoked, giving up smoking will most certainly help you live for a longer duration. Individuals who stop smoking before their mid-thirties avoid 90% of the health risks associated with the use of tobacco.

Even those individuals who quit later in life can greatly lessen their risk of dying at a younger age. Your overall health can progress whether you are healthy or already suffering from smoking-related diseases. Those who quit smoking also enjoy a higher quality of life and a tougher immune system. They occasionally suffer from cold and flu viruses, and reduced rates of bronchitis and pneumonia. Despite your age or smoking history, there are an innumerable advantages associated with giving up smoking.

Smoking causes drastic changes in your body and in the way you act. The changes in your system are caused by an addiction to nicotine.
When smoking is a habit, many things seem to go along with having a cigarette. These might include having a cup of coffee/tea or an alcoholic drink, being stressed or worried, conversing on the phone, driving or socializing with friends

Smoking is one of the main causes of chronic health diseases, such as stroke, cancer, and heart problems. If you have no plans of quitting today, having some knowledge of the different types of sicknesses that you may experience through years of smoking may change your perception and lead you to give up smoking.

Smoking affects various parts of the body including the, throat, lungs, eyes, nose heart, skin, blood, etc. Years of clinical studies and research have proven that using tobacco causes people to become sick, disabled or eventually die. Adult smokers lessen their lifespan by an average of 13 to 14 years. Some possible health risks of smoking include , heart diseases, high blood pressure, gum diseases, depression, diabetes, lung cancer , thyroid disease, harmful effects on bones and joints, bad breath and infertility in men and women

The first step to quitting smoking successfully is planning and preparation. You need to prepare your mind and body before actually giving up smoking. Establish your personal goals, discover your reasons for quitting and get rid of temptations that may become an obstacle to your quit smoking program. Tobacco smoke comprises of nicotine, a drug that is addictive and can make it very, difficult but not impossible, to quit.

Even if you have no idea where to commence from and what to do, you can quit smoking as long as you have made up your mind and are willing and committed to do so. Many people fail to remember the effects that smoking has on the people around them. From friends, co-workers, loved-ones and children, breathing in tobacco smoke severely harms the lives of those around you. When you quit smoking, the benefits are felt by you as well as those around you.
